What will we need?

Raspberry Pi 5 with an SSD drive. A compact solution is available in our webshop.

Power adapter with at least 25W output.

Preinstalled docker version of Home Assistant or OpenHAB from previous part.

Home Assistant Edition

For Home Assistant edition we will import pre-configurated YAML entities, install HACS for some additional features to work with our preconfigurated dashboard and import basic rules and custom dashboard.

Login to Home Assistant, create first account, provide location and check Basic analytics and Diagnostics to help community of Home Assistant. 

Navigate to Settings -> Devices&Services and Add integration. Search for MQTT. Install.
