Pi-TV is an open source alternative to commercial media center or built-in TV media center A very well-known project KODI is used as the default software application. Raspberry Pi 4 is used again as the hardware or you can also use another micro computer.

What is it good for?

The main advantages are universality, i.e. connection to any TV/projector via HDMI (if this interface is available to the TV) and low power consumption (5 W). The connection to the Internet or the NAS (What is NAS?) is made using the Gigabit LAN. So you can easily upgrade your old TV/projector or monitor to a modern multimedia center with support for the latest video, audio or app formats like Netflix, Skylink TV, etc. With the help of a hardware add-on (TV HAT), it is possible to play a digital TV and resolve the switch to DVB-T2 without needlessly purchasing a new set-top box or even a new TV.

What do we need?

1. Hardware - we can use any older PC, laptop. If you want low running costs, MiniPC is the best with minimal consumption, the most ideal is currently the Raspberry Pi 4 4GB
2. Software - we use an open source platform KODI that runs in our case on Debian Linux distribution - fork of OS is called RaspEX KODI
